How do I relinquish paternity from a birth certificate now that the actual biological father is in the picture?

I am no longer involved with the mother or child but my name is on his birth certificate. I was led to believe the biological father was unknown. The actual father is known and wants very much to be in his son's life and we need to find out how to have my name removed so the biological father can have his rights back. Is it possible without having to hire attorneys?How do I relinquish paternity from a birth certificate now that the actual biological father is in the picture?
In most places it is much easier than that. All of the adult parties involved must go to the county health department or the place where the certificate was issued and make the request for the change. A form will have to be filled out and perhaps notarized by all three "parents." It's not a big deal and doesn't take years, but maybe months.
He needs to file for his paternity rights. This type of paternity fraud is common. Send him these links.

It varies from state to state but it will be VERY helpful if he wants to be the father.(you should thank him every day)

If you signed the BC the time ranges from 6 months to 2 years, depending on the state, to have your name removed. After that period you will have to file a motion with the court.

This will get you started, there is plenty of info online;

I guess you can, with out hiring the attorneys.Actually all this depends on the laws of the state.If he is ready to take the responsibility of the child as his father, i don't think there may be any complicated matter that need a attorney's expertise.
You go have the other man go to court to establish paternity and child support. The will do a DNA test and if he's the father your off the hook.
