I live in North Carolina but I was born in Texas and I lost my birth certificate. I need it before my husband starts basic training for the army. All the sites I have seen so far charge 35 for 10-15 days. But I need mine before the 24th. I saw some sites but it cost $23 for the certificate and $69 for a fee. Web sites don't issue birth certificates, municipalities do.



You need to contact the City Hall or County Hall of Records in the municipality where you were born. They will tell you exactly what is required to get your birth certificate (name, date of birth, fee, etc). If you can pay by credit card, they may be able to process your request over the phone. Otherwise, you can ship the requirements overnight via Priority Mail with a prepaid Priority Mail return envelope inside.

Check the state government web site for Texas. Birth certificates may be issued by municipalities but they are state records, not just county. I know some states are the real source of issue for birth certificate copies. The state web site may also get you a number you can call for a rush request.
Go directly to the county courthouse in the county where you were born. I think you will find they are only a few dollars.
