Do i need to update my birth certificate to apply for provisional driving liscence?

My birth certificate was not updated when my parents married, however soon after I began using father's surname as my own.

My birth certificate and national insurance card state my surname is my mother's maiden name, however I am known to banks/higher education and society as my father's surname.

In order to apply for my provisional liscence, would i therefore have to apply to deedpoll and legally have my name updated? Or is there a way in which i could send off my parent's marriage certificate to justify my situation?Do i need to update my birth certificate to apply for provisional driving liscence?
You cannot 'update' your birth certificate. It s what it is. Your name is legally what your mother gave you, although you are also known by the other.

When applying for your license, you need to provide proof of age and identity, so it will be issued in your original name. Your only option to change that is to do it through deed poll. That would vastly simplify your life.
this happens to lots of people as many people divorce and re-marry changing children's last names as they do

when you fill out your application form i think there is a section that asks you to explain if your name is different from that on your B-CDo i need to update my birth certificate to apply for provisional driving liscence?
I think you have to use the name as on your birth certificate. And if you want to change your name you have go through the legal procedureDo i need to update my birth certificate to apply for provisional driving liscence?
Just apply for your licence in your birth name. That is your proper name after all.
