How do I get a birth certificate replacement from Australia?

I have a friend who can't locate her birth certificate. She was born in Australia but has lived in the states most of her life. I would like to know how she can go about requesting a replacement. TIA!!!!How do I get a birth certificate replacement from Australia?
Apply to the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Basically she can look up her state tap in "Births Deaths Marriages Registry" in google. She'll need a few pieces of ID of hers to validate that she has a legitimate link to have the birth certificate though. It might be easier for her just to apply directly to the Registry in Australia for it than go to the Australian embassy as each state has a different format for a birth certificate (not to mention differen paper used) so I doubt they may be able to print it out there. Most likely direct you to the Registries in Australia.

Contact the Australian embassy and ask them:

(202) 797 3000

EDIT: Their website directs you here:

But that website is down currently. You might want to try in the middle of the night when its regular business hours in Australia.
