What is the basis of the lawsuits over Obama's birth certificate and citizenship & who sued who?

The news and internet mention lawsuits over Obama's birth certificate. Is it that it hasn't been made public or does it say he's a citzen of Kenya or something? Was it changed later or what are the issues?

Is he being sued or someone in US gov't who's suppose to check those qualifications? What is the basis of the lawsuits over Obama's birth certificate and citizenship %26amp; who sued who?
this is an interview with Mr. Berg the guy who is suing Obama it's a 10min video the best i could find on the subject right now.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyspCRmJv鈥?/a>
There is a lawsuit. Obama and the democrat party are fighting the suit instead of showing the paper copy of his birth certificate. Suspicious isn't it?

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008鈥?/a>

If his birth certificate is authentic - why fight the suit? Wierd. What is the basis of the lawsuits over Obama's birth certificate and citizenship %26amp; who sued who?
He was born in Kenya. What is the basis of the lawsuits over Obama's birth certificate and citizenship %26amp; who sued who?
Obama is being sued because he won't show his vault birth certificate. The only records available are showing that he was born in Kenya and a citizen of Indonesia.

Another case of Obama's reluctance to talk about himself in an open and honest manner. Why won't he show his vault birth certificate? If he was not a natural born citizen of this country he can not become president.
Philip Berg is the democratic attorney who filed suit. He has two law firms in philadelphia. Berg, who served as Deputy Attorney General of Pennsylvania for eight years, ran twice for governor in 1990 and 1998 and once for the U.S. Senate in 1994, was former chair of the Democratic Party in Montgomery (PA) County and a former member of the Democratic State Committee.

Is it possible to change your date of birth on your birth certificate?

I know a bloke who is 42 years of age and he wants to change his date of birth on his birth certificate from being 42 years old to 20 years old because he does not want people to think that he is 42.He is afraid of getting old and he is pretty good at holding back his age.He thinks that all of us should change your age.Do you think that he can avoid getting old?Is it possible to change your date of birth on your birth certificate?
no, changing a birth certificate--which is a legal document--is illegal.
No, i don't think you can do that. Besides, people are going to know he isn't 20 years old, if he's really 42.Is it possible to change your date of birth on your birth certificate?
of course you can do thatIs it possible to change your date of birth on your birth certificate?

How does everyone feel about the whole birth certificate drama with President Obama?

Do you guys think that President Obama is being shady about providing a birth certificate, or do you feel that there are more important things that we should be worried about? How does everyone feel about the whole birth certificate drama with President Obama?
I think that because Obama promised a transparent administration and he himself is keeping some things under wraps such as his school records and yes his birth certificate, that just makes him look guilty as hel*. No one spends a ton of money to keep school records and such hidden if he isn't hiding something. How does everyone feel about the whole birth certificate drama with President Obama?
Why what does it matter?

By all rights, the non-story about President Obama's birth certificate should have disappeared from sight years ago. But a stubborn, politically-motivated few - including, most recently, Donald Trump - persist in spreading groundless suspicions about whether Obama was born in the United States.

This has spread confusion among voters who don't pay close attention to political fact-checkers. Some assume that since there's so much smoke being blown, there must be a fire somewhere. Others will embrace any allegation that confirms their negative attitude toward the president.

Allow us to once again set the record straight. Here are the facts:

U A certificate of live birth, the only document available to Hawaiians to establish their citizenship, was made public by the Obama campaign back in the summer of 2008. It is posted on the Web and has been examined by independent journalists. It is signed, with the embossed seal of the State of Hawaii.

U The Hawaii state archives hold another Obama birth record that state officials are prohibited from making public by state law. It has been examined by two successive directors of the Hawaii Department of Public Health, one a Republican and one a Democrat, who have both certified its authenticity.

U Within days of his birth on Aug. 4, 1961, the hospital sent announcements that were published in two Honolulu newspapers. It would be impossible to fake such announcements decades after those newspapers were printed and put on microfilm, and we can't imagine why anyone would bother faking the records of a newborn child.

U Obama is a United States citizen, and would be regardless of where he had been born, because his mother was a U.S. citizen. How does everyone feel about the whole birth certificate drama with President Obama?
I feel like if you feel good about the whole thing thn that fine and all but most people have to think about it.

Has Obama really delivered a birth certificate or is it a forgery?

It has been reported Obama has presented a birth certificate, but people still believe he was born some where else? What proof is there he was born else where and or that the certificate is a forgery?Has Obama really delivered a birth certificate or is it a forgery?
Pretty good rundown on Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/birthcertificate.asp. There is no evidence that he was born somewhere else, and the state of Hawaii has verified that his certificate is legit, and there are birth announcements for him in both of the Honolulu newspapers on the correct date. Some people just hate the fact that he's president (you can speculate on the reasons) and no amount of info will convince them this isn't all a huge conspiracy. A lot of people are more interested in an interesting fantasy than in a mundane reality, especially if it gives them the chance to feel like a victim or to bash someone they hate anyway. For other examples, look up the Elders of Zion idiocy or the New World Order or the Illuminati. These people are fun to read about but best ignored.
Obama with the permission of the governor of Hawaii released his birth certificate a few months ago. You can get a copy of it online. He's an american, and even if he was not born on american soil (he was) then according to the old blood laws of the US back in the late 1700s and very early 1800s, if your parents are citizens, then so are you.Has Obama really delivered a birth certificate or is it a forgery?
I can't believe there are still so many questions on this when the truth is right in front of everyone.

Obviously Obama wasn't born in Hawaii, he was born on the planet Omicron Persei 8 - planet of the giant reptile. It's all so clear now, isn't it?

Sheesh, ya'll should watch a couple of videos on youtube, if you really want the "truth".Has Obama really delivered a birth certificate or is it a forgery?
Yes, the great homeland security trinity of Bush, McCain, and Palin missed this.
Hawaii clams that they cannot find a birth certificate on Obama
Obama is bin laden with his beard shaved off, no wonder we can't find the guy
you could been in delivery room when he was begging born in usa and still believe he not from the usa
Even if there was a real one it would be labeled a fake.
there is no proof

It is always less expensive to purchase a birth certificate directly from the state or county Department of Vital Records in the state in which you were born than to purchase a birth certificate through Vitalcheck.com, as they are a service that charges an extra free to get the certificate from the state for you. Currently, the full name of a parent is necessary on a birth certificate which is to be presented to the State Department. However, your birth certificate is not necessary. You can provide secondary evidence of your birth in the U.S.A., such as Form DS-10: Birth Affidavit OR

A short form birth certificate is standard issue for ALL, regardless of whether you were adopted or not. And, regardless of whether you were adopted or not, you can order a long-form birth certificate. It will have the details necessary for your passport- it has been altered to reflect your adoption.

EDITED TO ADD: You can also request a copy of the adoption decree- that may be enough.

How do you get a seal birth certificate, Unsealed?

My wife and I were working on a family tree for our kids. We know who here Mom and Dad are. But when her mom and Dad split, Mom got Married and the new dad adopted and had the birth certificate amended and seal, She can get a copy of the 2nd birth certificate but can not get a copy of the first. We understand why it was seal, but why can't she get the first copy. It is her birth certificate. Thanks and any help will be appreciated. How do you get a seal birth certificate, Unsealed?
Check with the County Courthouse or the Hospital where the 2nd certificate was sealed. See if they can give you any information. You will probably have to end up talking to Legal Aid or a Judge to see if there's any legal way to get this done without it costing an arm and a leg.

Or since you know who her Dad is, perhaps check with some of his side of the family. A close relative (sister) or someone might just have a copy in some papers lying around somewhere, or perhaps an old baby book or family Bible.

What is a certified copy of a birth certificate?

Thanks! What is a certified copy of a birth certificate?
You would contact the town or city hall in the town where he was born to get one. If you are living too far away to go there in person, you can call them and ask what would be needed to get one. You can also get one by contacting the bureau of vital statistics in the state where he was born, either online, by phone, or by mail.

A certified copy will have a seal. You may already have one if you had to show a birth certificate to get him into school or to get a SS card for him.

Should only cost like 5 dollars or less per copy. What is a certified copy of a birth certificate?
Go to the website of the city where your son was born and look for 'records'.

There is only ONE original copy of a birth certificate, the one that was filled out by the doctor and filed with the city. You can't get this--even Obama can't get it--so you get a 'certified copy', meaning someone in the office photocopies it and stamps it with one of those stamps that makes dimples in the paper, to show that this copy was made by the proper authorities. This is a certified copy.

    Hope he enjoys Disney World!

How to obtain a copy of an original birth certificate?

I was adopted, and after all adoptions are finalized, the state issues a new birth certificate with the adoptive parents names on it instead of the birth parents. I think they call this an amended birth certificate? Anyway, I know that the state holds on to a copy of the old one, and I'm wondering if there is a way for me to get that. How to obtain a copy of an original birth certificate?
You want the city and county of where the old certificate is. So Google that plus something like Vital Statistics or Recorder's Office or Birth Records.

Every state and county has a different name but all allow you to pay a small fee and send for one through the mail.
The county recorders office will have a copy, if one was sent at the time of your birth. Birth Certificates and Death Certificates are public records. You should be able to obtain one for a small fee. You will need your full name, and the name of at least one of your biological parents (Mothers full name, and if possible, her maiden name works best). How to obtain a copy of an original birth certificate?

About 拢7-拢9, but this was in 2004... So the price may have gone up.
It is usually, but not always, cheaper to get a certified copy of your birth certificate from the county clerk of the county you were born in than to get one at the state level - it is also much faster. Rates vary from county to county and state to state. I can get a birth certificate from the county I was born in for $15 but it would cost me $26 from the state.

Input "Ingham County Clerk's Office, Lansing, Mi" format only use your county and state of course. Or you can input Vital Statistics, State of Michigan. Either way you'll get the info you need. How much is it to get a copy of your birth certificate?

How likely do you believe that the birth certificate is forged?

Will you do anything to keep your pride from being hurt? Most Americans would agree that 9/11 was not done by the American government and most Jews would agree that the Holocaust really did happen. Of course it is possible, that the birth certificate is not legit but logically, how likely is that? How likely do you believe that the birth certificate is forged?
    100 percent
You ask for logical opinion on Obama's now disclosed "birth certificate", so let's focus on that.

The "birth certificate's" validity is quite questionable, given the hospital's name on the certificate did NOT exist until 1978. Also take note at box # 9 ( race of father ) and # 14 ( race of mother ): Noting Obama's father as "African" is very suspicious, given that:

    1) In 1961, people were either "WHITE" or "BLACK" ( even "*****", in some places ), given the fact that politically correct terms "AFRICAN" OR "AFRICAN-AMERICAN" simply did NOT exist then.

During his first hours as U.S. President, Obama hurriedly cranked out Executive Orders, blocking public view of any and all documents of his life's history---his ENTIRE life's history!! And over the past 2 years, Obama not only defied demands from some of Washington D.C.'s most powerful people to produce the birth certificate---he spent MILLIONS in legal fees ( actually, WE TAXPAYERS did ), blocking any viewing of this purported valid "birth certificate".

And it took a billionaire "reality TV" show host to get him to give in and produce the suspicious "birth certificate"---which given the money spent by Obama, could very well be this document is NOT genuine.

There are too many logical factors that lead to Obama NOT being a legal born U.S. citizen---but we must also measure common sense and reasoning to concede that Obama simply has gotten away clean with it; easily and effortlessly possible in powerful high level politics. Doubts exist Obama will never be exposed as an "naturalized" U.S. citizen. How likely do you believe that the birth certificate is forged?
Currently the thought is that it may be real but Obama and his people layered it on purpose to work up us Bithers into a frenzy. The PDF. file has without a doubt "cut up" and altered but a real birth certificate from Hawaii maybe in existence. So why did the White House chop it to pieces where people with simple knowledge and trained expertise in Adobe image software can so easily and quickly find the obvious hack of this image.
The fact is Obama's place of birth is just a tiny piece of the puzzle there are 100's of discrepancies in Obama's citizenship status. How likely do you believe that the birth certificate is forged?
Donald Trump is rich. If he had truly believed that story, he could have paid the way for it to be revealed. Point is, it wasn't true and Donald Trump knew it. Likewise, if this should be some kind of forgery, then Trump could pay to have it exposed as such.He won't though because he knew all along the President was born in the states.Donald Trump is nothing but a lowlife, sleazy, opportunistic, egotistical status seeker.I can't stand him any more. Briefly I admired him some years back.
well the ap is showing one, and the white house is showing another. Both are on yahoo news right now before one is yanked that is.

Could be, but probably not. I do find it funny he would spend millions to hide it, than just magically make it appear. Why waste all the money? Something to hide, that is why. Birth Cert or not, he is still not qualified to be our president. He said after showing his COLB that we need to move on there are more important things. Minutes later he boarded a plane to go to the Oprah show, and then the wedding. Ya, real important.

It all depends on your DMV's policies as to what you need. I know mine requires six points of ID. As for copies of birth certificates - yes you can use a state copy of your original certificate. That doesn't mean a copy from a notary, that means a copy from your state. I also bring along a school ID and report card when I was in high school, a piece of mail with my name and address on it, a college id and transcript, a debit/credit card with my name on it. Any thing with your name, and at least one piece of mail with your name AND address, and like I said besides the original birth certificate - a state issued copy. Social security cards are the lowest point at my DMV...only 1pt for a SS card. Good luck.
it has to be original as far as i know. Can I use a copy of my birth certificate to get my drivers permit?
Use a valid passport, it's better, includes everything. You only need to use birth certificate if you do not have a passport, and provide them with a school ID or something. and yes it has to be the originals. Can I use a copy of my birth certificate to get my drivers permit?

Go to the following link. You can request a birth certifcate and pay using a credit card. You do however have to know which "conservatoria" the birth has been registered. Any Portuguese national born outside of Portugal will have the birth registerd at "Registos Centrais de Lisboa", but if you are born in Portugal then the birth will be registered in that particular town.

    Embassy of Portugal.
The easisest way is to contact the Portuguese consulate in your city. Look in the White Pages for this, or you can search online for "Portugal consul + the name of your city".

The consulate will have a website, or you can phone them. The first thing you must ask is what kind of identification you will need. They will ask whether you have reported the loss of the passport.

The consulate should be able to issue you with temporary documents, or they will contact the appropriate department in Portugal, who will send you what you need. Otherwise, they should give you full instructions about what to do. Someone there will also be able to speak Portuguese.

    Good luck
You can do it one of two ways: If he still has relatives in Portugal all they have to do is go to the local Registo office and request a birth certificate for him. It takes about 2 days and is not expensive. They can then post it to him.

Alternatively there is a website where you can do this yourself and you pay through the website and then they send you the certificate. If you contact the Portuguese Consulate they will give you the website address.

Can my partner be listed on the birth certificate?

I'm 33 weeks pregnant and my partner and I planned this pregnancy for years before conceiving. We are planning a second parent adoption, but I think it would be nice to have my partner's name on the birth certificate from the very beginning. Does anyone know if they will allow this in Colorado? Can my partner be listed on the birth certificate?
Well, the first question is: What type of relationship is this? A hetero or homosexual one because that will make a difference. I just noticed you did not specify any gender specific words on this.

If your partner opts to sign a voluntary acknowledgement of paternity, then he will be allowed to sign the birth certificate stating he is the father of the child.
only if he is the father and or is married to you and willingly signs it, could be wrong but thats how it is in wisconsinCan my partner be listed on the birth certificate?

    yeah they should
Ummm, yea .... Why wouldn't he be allowed?

Can I get the birth and marriage certificate of my parents and grandparents from germany and Poland?

when I have nothing than my own birth certificate and identification/ passport and the birth dates of my parents?

Is there any central archive that has all these data? Can I get the birth and marriage certificate of my parents and grandparents from germany and Poland?
Hi, unfortunately I can't help you for Poland, but for Germany.

First you would have to proof your relationship with your parents through a document from the civil registry office (if something like that exists in your country). Then you call the civil registry office of the town your parents were born and send them a copy of the certification that shows you're their child. They hold all the entries of birth's and deaths up to 1800. You could also try with the Central Archive of Jews in Germany in Heidelberg which collects all documents of former Jewish communities that have been destroyed by the Nazis in WW2. You can email them and they'll help you -this is their homepage

It's in German but if you scroll down you'll find the "eMail" Option. Good luck!

You can only get a birth certificate in the county in which your sons were born. If they were born in South Carolina, you aren't going to get one in Florida.

Each county will have a different process.Where to go online to order an original birth certificate for my sons in Florida?
You need to log on to the Florida Department of Health, print off the information page and sign it. Also include your $9 or $14 check (depending whether or not you need a certified copy or just a regular copy) and they will process your request. I did it for my two children and it only took a couple of days. Good Luck.

Is spelling your middle name a certain way to replace a birth certificate that important?

I need to replace my birth certificate, but I know fo r a fact they spell my middle name a certain way and it's not the way I am accustomed to spelling it and using it on documents. Is it important how I spell my middle name when I contact The Vital Records office in my city of birth to replace it? Please let me know 'cause I want to replace it right away. Thank you.Is spelling your middle name a certain way to replace a birth certificate that important?
You need to request the certificate using the full name that is on the records. That means the spelling that you don't like. If you want the spelling to be different, I suggest you speak with an attorney and formally have your name changed. It's not a complicated process.

There are different names used by different states, and as you see, even with the same state. There's also "certificate of live birth."

Lakin was not allowed discovery and exculpatory evidence. That is a crime in itself when most likely Lt. Col. Lakin is correct. Obama is NOT his commander and Chief. i need it to get financial help for my hospital bills. i only have the birth certificate from the hospital i was born at. is this okay or do they need the state one?Is a hospital birth certificate valid or does it have to be a state issued one?
I don't think Hospitals issue Birth Certificates, usually, it's just the information, of your vital statistics. Date of Birth, Weight, length, time of birth etc.

Your Birth Certificate, is the Official one, and your Parents, should have taken care of that.

You can easily check your State Records, for a copy of your Birth Certificate, if you have any doubt about the one you have from the Hospital.

Read in carefully, and see who issued it. It should have been issued by the Country Registrar of Births.

If in doubt, look up the Government Agency and request a copy of your BC. If you are an adult, and it seems you are, you must have been issued one, just to get into school and any other legal Institution. Is a hospital birth certificate valid or does it have to be a state issued one?
The state one is the officially filed copy of the one you have.

My birth certificate does not list my parents?

I was born in New Jersey in 1989. I have never seen another birth certificate where the parents were not listed but all mine states is my name and my date of birth, not even a time or stats (weight, length, etc). Is this typical for the state or could I have been surrendered and adopted at the hospital? Nothing about my parents story about pregnancy or birth adds up to me but my biggest concern is the birth certificate. My mother-in-law who was born in 1957 has her parents listed on her birth certificate! My birth certificate does not list my parents?
Apply for a copy of your full birth certificate, which should give you all the information you are looking for.....and will stop you reading more into your parents explanations about your birth, people even parents forget about pregnacy/birth as so much emotionally is going on at that time, what you have is a short birth certificate, which only gives the information you state.
In Australia you now only get a 'Birth Extract' which only has your name and date and place of birth on it and nothing else. If you want a full certificate which includes the parents names you have to order it, maybe that is what is happening in New Jersey too? Have you tried asking people who are the same age as you what sort of certificate they were issued with, things may have changed since 1957.

Is everybody aware that the Certificate of Live Birth Obama released is not the same as a birth certificate?

And that any resident of the state of Hawaii can get one even if they were born outside the US? Why won't Obama release his birth certificate? Why won't he release any information about his dealings with lobbyists in his law practice? Why won't he release his medical records? Why do Obama's disciples blindly accept this? How can they defend someone they don't even know? Please explain this to me, I seriously want to understand the thinking.|||Let's clear up some errors here.

Hawaii issues two types of birth documents:

    A) Certificate of Live Birth (long form with full birth details

    B) Certification of Live Birth (short form, missing lots of information).

    1. The document that President Obama showed to FACTCHECK.ORG and that apeared on The Daily KOS is NOT a Certificate of Live Birth. It is a Certification of Live Birth (COLB) short form. Hawaii issues both, the Certification is the short form and Certificate is the long form.

Certification is NOT a certificate. Very different documents.

    2. President Obama needs to be a 'natural born citizen' (NBC) not just a citizen. NBC is not defined in the Constitution; case law will apply.

    3. Hawaiian officals have NOT confirmed that the COLB posted on FACTCHECK.ORG was issued by the State of Hawaii. They have been asked and they refuse to do so.

    4. In over 30 court cases thus far, President Obama's legal teams have NEVER presented the COLB to a court as evidence.

So if the images of the short form document posted on FACTCHECK.ORG are genuine, why won't President Obama's lawyers use it in court to settle the matter?

Clearly President Obama is hiding something and for the life of me I do not understand why his supporters don't want the documents examined.

If this were a birth issue that related to President Bush, they would be screaming along with ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN for his birth documents.|||It just passes the common sense test to me.

Because I don't have an original copy of my birth certificate signed by doctors in the hospital on the day I was born. If I need a birth certificate then I go to the county office and ask for a copy, which they print out for me. Nor do I have that orginal document for the birth of my daughters.

It seems unreasonable to expect him to produce it. He's produced the equivalent of what I could produce for my own birth. I'm actually surprised that so many people think it is such an easy task to produce your original, signed, thumbprinted birth cert.|||You don't know what you're talking about. That shouldn't surprise me since the people you listen to don't know what they're talking about. The certified document Obama showed a year ago is virtually identical in key informational respects to a document I have from the state of New York. My NY document was all I needed to get a US passport because it's all the state department requires to prove citizenship, therefor the document from Hawaii is more than adequate. In fact it has more information on it than does my document. Obama isn't showing anything else because the "birthers" aren't entitled to see anything else. If I were him I wouldn't give those nut jobs the time of day. He's the president of the United State and as such isn't going to jump through hoops over baseless allegations.

And what the fu*k do his medical records have to do with anything? The right keeps bring that up as if it is in any way, shape of form significant.|||You can get a certificate of live birth in Hawaii even if you weren't born there. I have a photocopy of my birth certificate is this good enough to get into Canada?

I have had a trip planned to go to Canada for the weekend and was just told recently that my photographed copy of my birth certificate would not be good enough to get in or re-enter the US. I do not have a passport, and i do not have enough time to get an official birth certificate. Am i pretty much not going to be able to go?I have a photocopy of my birth certificate is this good enough to get into Canada?
Yes you cannot go with a photocopy of the birth certificate unless it is certified showing that it is true.
No you cant use a photocopy, see below.

Starting December 31st 2006, the United States will begin implementing a requirement for passports to enter the United States. This will affect visitors to the US and US residents re-entering the US. The first phase of the requirement for passports will affect people traveling by air into the US and begin December 31, 2006. The second phase of the requirement for passports will begin December 31, 2007, and will affect all persons traveling to the US whether by ground, air, or water.

    Identification

United States citizens and legal residents of the United States do not need passports or visas to enter Canada as visitors. If you do have a valid passport we recommend bringing it since it will help facilitate crossing the border both into Canada and returning to the United States.

When crossing the border you may be asked to show proof of citizenship such as birth, voter's, naturalization certificate or passport. If the identification does not have a picture ID you may be asked to provide this as well. A drivers license is generally sufficient for picture ID but is not proof of citizenship by itself. Photocopies of any identification are not acceptable and may initiate a more thorough investigation.

Proof of Citizenship Proof of Identity

    -Passport

    -Birth Certificate

    -Voters Certificate

    -Naturalization Certificate -Passport

    -Drivers License

How could a birth certificate be amended without the person's consent?

When I was 12 I was adopted by a stepparent but no amendment of my birth certificate was ordered. A year ago an online search showed my birth certificate was still in my birth name. Now suddenly my name is coming up in the online birth index with the adoptive name instead of the birth name without any notice to me or consent by me. What law would allow this? How could a birth certificate be amended without the person's consent?
    Hi Solitude,

Even though you were not involved in a traditional infant adoption, you are still a victim of the closed adoption record laws. Decisions are made for minor children and they have no say in what their name will become if their parents or the state decide to arrange an adoption on their behalf.

I understand your frustration. No adoptee consents to having their name changed yet it happens extensively. I have known many adoptees of stepparents, who discover for the first time when as adults, they attempt to obtain a record of their own birth and they are legally unable to do so. Even when they already know the factual information contained on it. All they are legally entitled to is an amended birth certificate stating that their name has been changed, their stepparent gave birth to them, and their natural parent is rewritten out of history. This is NOT just the law until you turn 18. This law is PERMANENT for anyone involved in an adoption for their entire adult lives, short of a court order by a judge.

You ask what law would allow this? This is adoption law in the U.S. today. Every state but 6 currently permit this to continue. Amended birth certificate laws were originally implemented after WWII to address the stigma that society placed on single parenthood at that time. Society has since evolved, yet the practice of altering %26amp; sealing birth certificates continues. It is archaic, it is wrong, %26amp; it is unfair to adult citizens.

If you would like to help restore rights to adoptees, please join us in a demonstration for adoptee rights at the National Conference of State Legislature鈥檚 Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, on Tuesday July 22th, 2008. See link below for further details.

Thanks for asking, %26amp; I wish you good luck.

?? the weird thing would be an adoption that did NOT have an amended birth certificate. I can't understand why it would have shown up with the original name. The only thing I can think of is that the original index was posted online, while it was still 'in process', and that later, the amended notations were made as they should have been.

Any index is based on documentation of official records. If the record is there, then there is no legal reason to notify or seek consent. What is also very strange, is that in most cases (in the US), birth records of living persons should not appear online anyway. How could a birth certificate be amended without the person's consent?
Many states have laws that require courthouses to notify the Vital Statistics office of adoptions, name changes, and paternity orders. The state then amends the birth certificate to reflect the adoption or name change. The birth certificate is the property of the state, and they don't need your consent to amend the birth certificate to reflect a legal/court-ordered change. How could a birth certificate be amended without the person's consent?
You're actually seeing the difference between the local county's copy and the State's copy. When an adoption is perfected, the Judge signs an order that the is sent to the Secretary of State entering the amended certificate into the official records of the State. The attorney handling the adoption is also supposed to hand deliver a copy of the order of amendment to the Clerk of the Court in the County holding the original. If the attorney forgot to do that, then the original remains unchanged, but the State's copy is perfected.

The only way to bring them in line with each other is to take a copy of the Adoption decree to the Clerk of the Court in the County of birth and have their copy amended. You can't undo the order in the adoption decree without having your name legally changed and paying hundreds of dollars to do it.
Depending on the nature of your adoption, your guardianship and whether you were a minor at the time of the action, your consent may not have been required.

  • How can I obtain my original birth certificate?

I need to get my original birth certificate as quickly as possible. I was born in the United States but am not living in the same state I was born. Are there places in Miami that you can walk in and get the birth certificate, even if I was not born in Florida? How can I obtain my original birth certificate?
The issuing of a replacement birth certificate must be done by the state record department that maintains these birthing records for the state you were born in,if you moved from where you were born, it wouldn鈥檛 be the current state that you live in. In some states, copies can now be sent to your home either from online or by mail.

n order for you to obtain a replacement birth certificate, there are some things you must have. Below are the main things you will be asked to submit.

    1. Your Complete Birth Name.

    2. Your Date of Birth.

    3. Place You Were Born

    4. Your Parent鈥檚 First and Last Names. (usually including your Mother鈥檚 maiden name.)

    5. You will need to state that the replacement record is for you as you cannot request a replacement of someone else鈥檚 records. How can I obtain my original birth certificate?
You have to send for it through the Bureau of Vital Statistics of the state you were born in. Usually these records are at that state's captital. If you have a valid license from your former state, that is generally all you need.
In most states a passport is sufficient proof of your birthday if you don't have a birth certificate but you must have at least one government issued proof of your birthday. There's no state I know of that still accepts only your old drivers license. It's partly to catch illegals and partly to make it difficult for someone to steal your identity Besides proof of your birthday you will also need proof of your social security number, either the card itself, a paystub, or a W-2.How can I change my drivers license without my birth certificate?

Specially for the passport, it's a little sad and you will get some problems to get a new one !

But for the birth certificate, you can get delivred a replacement birth certificate online at any serious website as in the source below. They will direct you to government official records where you can get an official and authentic replacement. Are colleges allowed to request a copy of your birth certificate in order to apply?

One of the colleges I am applying to needs "proof of citizenship" (birth certificate, passport, etc).

Are they allowed to ask for this confidential document if you are just applying? ( I have not been accepted yet)

A valid source would be appreciated. Are colleges allowed to request a copy of your birth certificate in order to apply?
Yes. Most also want your social security number before they have accepted you. Rest assured that I've never heard of a school misusing this information. They just need evidence of who you are, so they don't accept you (and reject others), only to find out that you aren't who you say you are or are covering up a previous college record which isn't good. Are colleges allowed to request a copy of your birth certificate in order to apply?
Since when is a birth certificate a "confidential document"? Birth certificates are public records. So, yes, of course they are allowed to request something like that for some kind of proof. Why wouldn't they be allowed? Anyway, they aren't insisting on a birth certificate necessarily. They just want something like that. It's a little silly for you to think that they couldn't ask for something.

Now, if you're offended by them asking, you have every right to go to a different school. I'm not sure I'd want to send in my birth certificate either, but that doesn't mean they don't have a right to require something like that.

Being married has nothing to do with the birth certificate. I am in California and was never married to my first boy's father. I left him when I was 2 months pregnant. But he is on my sons birth certificate. You just have to go into the court office where its done when he comes back, and you both put him on there. Its as simple as that. But you have to be there since you are the only one on the birth certificate.

Can you get a passport without a birth certificate?

I am unable to locate my birth certificate or birth record, and I would really like to travel to Europe with my friends this summer. Is there any way that I can get a passport without my birth certificate? Can you get a passport without a birth certificate?
Actually, here are a couple of ways that you can go about obtaining a passport without having a birth certificate, but the hoops to jump through are extensive.

鈥?First, you will need to gather up as much written information about you as you can from the age of birth to five. Things like a certificate given to your parents after you were baptized, kindergarten or preschool records, a family bible that may have your date of birth written into it, shot record or other post-natal care information will also work. It is important that these have your full name and a date on them.

鈥?You could also call the Vital Records department in the state that you were born and see what they have on file for you. I have found that these criteria are way too hard to fulfill.

If you visit an online vital records database, you will be pointed in the right direction to find where the certificate is. They have an excellent staff that is super friendly and able to answer all of your questions. I use this one from time to time to look up background information on new neighbors or genealogy: http://www.recordssitereviews.com/birth_records.php. Give them a try and good luck with your trip! Can you get a passport without a birth certificate?
Assuming you are asking about a US passport - yes. There is a procedure for documenting US citizenship without a birth certificate:

However, applying will be easier and faster with a birth certificate. Make contact with the Vital Records Office wherever you were born and ask them to search for the birth certificate.

So your boyfriend born in New York, perhaps one of the easiest states for a person who was born in New York to obtain a replacement birth certificate if the need arises. The department Vital Records in New York encourages people to go online to obtain a replacement birth certificate. This helps you to avoid the long lines you will confront by seeking to get your birth certificate in person and the waiting period for getting it by mail.Of course you must have supporting documentation of proof of identity to process your order. You need to be the person whose name is listed on the birth certificate or the parent or guardian of the person listed on the birth certificate. You must have a valid, unexpired state or government identification card. If you are trying to obtain a replacement for someone else, you have to have a notarized letter from that person tendering permission for you to obtain a copy of his or her birth certificate.

Proper valid identification would be a Driver's License including a photo, Government-issued Photo ID, or a Government-issued Passport. If you are under age 18 and don't have any of the above mentioned ID, an original or a certified copy of a Birth Certificate is required. School IDs or children security IDs are not deemed government-issued photo IDs and will not be accepted.

The only things you can use for proof are (guessing that your child is under 18):

    -The Real birth certificate

-A certified copy of the birth certificate

    -A passport (NOT expired)

So the answer to your question is yes, you should have no problem getting the free birthday ticket. Is a notorized copy of a birth certificate acceptable for Disney's free Birthday ticket?
a notorized copy is just as good as the original.

you should have no problems using the copy.
If the child has a passport, that's your best bet. But since you are talking about birth certificates, a certified copy of the birth certificate will work or the actual birth certificate. For instances like these, I suggest you contact the state where your child was born, and shell out the few bucks for a duplicate birth certificate so that you can have one for instances like registering your child for school, taking advantage of birthday promotions, etc. It's always great to have an extra copy on hand.

How do I obtain a birth certificate for my great-grandparents who were born in Poland?

    Hello,

I need birth certificates for my great-grandparents. They were born in Poland around 1890 (I have the exact dates and towns where they were born).

    (1) Does anyone know how I can obtain a copy of the birth certificate?

    (2) What information would be on a birth certificate from this time period?

If it matters, I do not speak Polish.

Thanks! How do I obtain a birth certificate for my great-grandparents who were born in Poland?

Years ago I acquired an extracted birth record for my father, who was born in Poland.

I did this beginning with the Polish Embassy in Washington, D.C. They directed me to the Polish Consulate in Los Angeles.

The process took awhile and quite a bit of money. In the end it cost me about $75. I do not know if this is still the process or not. I would advise you to begin at the following website and email them to find out the proper procedure and cost. http://www.polandembassy.org/

If you are seeking records for Poles of Jewish heritage, there are over 3 million online records on the Jewish Records Indexing - Poland Database at: http://www.jewishgen.org/jri-pl/jriplweb鈥?/a>

Polish records are not in what we consider birth certificate form, but usually a one line entry in a record book. The details vary depending on the year of birth, death, and marriage.

If you are writing from Canada, the UK or a country outside of the United States, you would need to find the webpage for the embassy in your country.

Good luck on your quest....How do I obtain a birth certificate for my great-grandparents who were born in Poland?
Poland didn't issue birth certificates until after the reunification after WWI. If you know the town of birth, then I can help you figure out where records might be kept. For 2/3rds of what we now know as Poland, there weren't any birth records kept in that era. Those that were kept were only an entry in a registry, not individual birth certificates.

There are alternatives to birth certificates. If your ancestors were Lutheran, Catholic, Orthodox or Evangelical, you can pull the films of the baptismal records from the LDS Family History Center. If they were Jewish, there won't be anything you can find to replicate a birth record.

If you want to send what you know about them through my profile, I'd be happy to give you a sense of direction. How do I obtain a birth certificate for my great-grandparents who were born in Poland?
I have ancestors from northeastern Poland and I visit the parishes they belonged to and go thru the records. There are three main types of records, birth, marriage and death ( this is true for the areas of Poland that were previously Russia-Poland from 1795-1918, I'm not sure about the rest ). The birth records usually include the following.. name, date of birth , place of birth, godparents ( sometimes if catholic ) parents' names including mother's maiden and their age at the birth of their child. The marriage record includes: names of people married as well as their parents' names and mothers' maiden names, date of marriage, parish of marriage. The death records include... name, death date, death place, parents' names including mother's maiden.

( this is true for records before 1900 ) You can try and find the parish's website ( I'm assuming they were Roman Catholics ) and write an email. English is fine.

There are also province archives that have lots of information and I think you can contact them and order copies of records.

Since you have the town of your great grandparents, all you would have to do is find which province archive they belong to and contact them. Here is a list of archives ( unforutnately in Polish ) http://www.archiwa.gov.pl/?CIDA=177

Or you can find a professional genealogist to do it for you but that might be a bit pricey

By the way I dont think there were individual

    birth certificates back then.

I lost my drivers license, birth certificate and social security card. How do I get them replaced?

I can't get the driver's license replaced without my SS card and birth certificate. I can't get the SS card without my driver's license and birth certificate. I don't even know what kind of ID I need to show to get a birth certificate. How do I solve this problem? I need these things to get a new job.I lost my drivers license, birth certificate and social security card. How do I get them replaced?
First of all, you need to report all of those stolen.

The first step you need to take is replace your birth certificate. You need it as proof of citizenship in order to replace your SS card. Here's info:

    http://www.vitalrec.com/birth.html
birth certificate first... contact the city hall department of vital records in the city you were born. you can do this by phone. believe it or not, you do not need any type of ID to get a certified cop of you birth certifcate and you can pay to have it overnighted to you. (I have done this) then go to the dmv and file for a lost license to get a duplicate, then go to SS administration and file for a duplicate SS card.. You have to do the birth certificate first. Then, last but not least, I would watch for identity theft (they have info at SS office) as you a prime candidate.. Good luckI lost my drivers license, birth certificate and social security card. How do I get them replaced?
You look up the vital statistics dept in the state that you were born and request a copy of your birth certificate. You can even look them up online and request a copy of it . It is $15.00 and they do not require a ss card or anything like that.

If you lost your drivers license go to the DMV office in your area and they will issue you a new one. Remember your picture is on it so you cannot scam them there so you do not need any form of ID. After you get that go to the social security office and get your card.

I would also recommend contacting the three credit reporting bureaus and letting them know that these things were lost because anyone can steal your identity and it will kill your credit if they choose to open accounts and so on using your information. I used to specialize in fraud with a credit card company and it happens A LOT

The three reporting agencies are Experian, Trans Union, and Equifax. they will put an alert on your record.

Good look to you. Oh Yes if you have a passport, workplaces accept that as two forms of IDI lost my drivers license, birth certificate and social security card. How do I get them replaced?
For your birth certificate, call or visit the web site of your state. As for your SS card, call the SSA at 1-800-772-1213. You will probably be able to replace your card if you have another form of ID, such as a school or work ID. As for your d/l, call your bureau of motor vehicles. If you know someone who works there, it can be a big help to you.

Also, if these items are lost or stolen, you should alert the three credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian, and Trans Union) to watch your credit report for suspicious activity. Also watch your bank accounts. Identity theft is a major problem, and with all three of those things missing someone could really steal your identity.
um.. odn't you have your passport? thats like the only other ID you have.

by the way.. how did you manage to lose all of them.

  • How do I go about changing something on a birth certificate?

I just took legal custody of my great niece. A paternity test proves the father listed on the birth certificate is not the father. I would like to have his name removed from the birth certificate and my great nieces last name changed to her mothers maiden name. How do I go about changing something on a birth certificate?
Two things: first, you cannot change anything on a birth certificate.

Second, any changes you want to make to the child's birth records have to be done by the court, and then only an amended birth certificate (not a replacement) will be issued.

Third, the great niece may take issue down the road with you changing her history to suit your feelings.
I鈥檓 not for sure. I鈥檒l tell you my nephews story and maybe that may help you.

My brother is not a very good dad at all. My sister in-law married a man and she wanted him to be his father. So she had to get my brother to sign over his rights as he was listed as the father on the birth certificate. Once that was done they went and got his last named changed ect at the court house.

I鈥檓 sure if different states have laws for these kind of things but I know when it comes to paying child support it doesn鈥檛 matter if that guy is the father or not as it his name is listed on the birth certificate. I would call your local court house and ask these questions and what rights if any does this man have even if he isn鈥檛 the biological father. You could contact a family lawyer to ask these questions and they would tell you what you鈥檇 need to do. Also I would think if you did get her last name changed then you'd have to change her Social Security card and have her new last name placed on it.How do I go about changing something on a birth certificate?
Contact the county clerk and find out what the procedure is. Shouldn't be a problem given that you have a paternity test and if the great-niece is less than a year old. If she is older than a year, you will likely get a court date to make the change as the guardianship papers will also have to be changed.

I agree with other poster who indicated that an amended certificate will be issued. I can't agree that the child will object as the man listed has been shown not to be the father. Another reason why I think that DNA testing should be done on all children of unmarried mothers before a father is added, but that's just my opinion. How do I go about changing something on a birth certificate?
I know you can change your own name on your birth certificate after you are 18. You would have to have a paternity test done to prove who the real father is before they would even consider changing that. You would need to speak to someone from the department where birth certificates are issued. What you can and can't change may be limited but you could call and ask first.
From my experience to change name you have to go through court. Different places have different laws and ways to do it. Best thing is to get a free consultation from a family law attorney or your local legal service. I know that it can be done, but depending on your location, the steps may and most likely will be different. Best wishes to you!
If you have proof of the paternity test that says he is not the father you can take it to the court/judge and ask for a name change grant. It costs money! But if you are willing then go to the courts and ask them for the paper work and get it started.
Apparently it depends which country you are in, USA: If there is incorrect or missing information on your birth record or on your child's birth record, you may make a request for an amendment. A request for an amendment to a birth record must be made by mail to MDH. (you must prove that the change you want to make is accurate and justified.)

I found this website which seems to have a lot of info for you, I do hope it helps

most likely go to your town hall or toen offices and ask them about it.. It mostlikely is a legal process, but they should be able to tell you how to go about this. it may be different in every state so i dont know if asking here is your best bet.
Contact the office of vital statistics in the place of the birth, they will tell you what you need to do.
To change something on a birth certificate i think you need to talk to Births, Deaths and Marriages in your state. And maybe also a soliciter or lawyer....

    Best of luck
I'm pretty sure that you can't change a birth certificate.
