How long does it take to receive birth certificate after baby is born?

I had a baby on December 21, 2008 and I was wondering how long it takes for the birth certificate to come in the mail? Or is there something I have to do to get it?How long does it take to receive birth certificate after baby is born?
I'm sure it varies depending on where you are. My hospital gave me a form to fill out to request a copy of the birth certificate and said I should wait until about 2 weeks after the birth to send it in. Once it was sent in it took about 6 weeks to get it.
I'm sure this depends on the state you live in, but we had to go pick up our sons birth certificate at the court house in the town he was born in. We actually picked up it a year after he was born (I know... super late) and there was no problem doing it. I think you had to at least wait like 2 weeks or something after the babies born so I'd say you can pick it up now... if that how it is in your state. They should have gave you some paper work on it so you know exactly what to do.How long does it take to receive birth certificate after baby is born?
you'll have to go to your county's health department some places have to mail order them to the state capitol to get them and some just print them for you there in which case it would only take a few minutes.

go here and click on your state and itll tell you what to do.

We never got ours after the births of both daughters, we had to go ask the courthouse for copies to have at home in our files. But according to the" mine" county website Im now looking at you should get them 6 to 8 weeks after delivery and if not then call them to request one.
I though whenever you are discharged from the hospital you are given a paper birth certificate. When it comes to the actual one well go to your local center where they issue them and should recieve it on site that what I did.
Yes. The hospital should have provided you a form that you need to send in to get it. You have to pay like $20 I believe. You will have to request one. They do not automatically come in the mail. You usually go through the county clerks office in CA.
It does vary from state to state so contact your local office of vital records and they will be able to tell you a more exact date. However when I had my children I was told wait at least 2-3 months before it would surely be in the system.
You have to go to the vital records office and get it.

Or at least contact them and order it.
