Do you need your birth certificate to get your belly button pierced?

I am 17 and I know you have to be 18 to legally get your belly button pierced, so my mother is going with me. I did all of the research but I just can't seem to find out if you need your birth certificate. My mother lost mine, as well as my siblings, so I haven't even been able to obtain my ID. Is there any way to get around it? Also, does anyone know a general price for it in Richmond, Virginia?Do you need your birth certificate to get your belly button pierced?
Yes, you still need your birth certificate even though it's been lost. The reason that a birth certificate is needed is because so many children try to scam shops by bringing in either people off the street that claim to be their parents or by bringing in an aunt or uncle with the same last name (and similar looks) to sign for them. The birth certificate prevents either of those from signing for you, as the only person with legal right is your legal parent.

Either way, you'll need a birth certificate to get your identification as well. It will only take a few weeks time though. Through the registrar's office in the county you were born, you can get an immediate copy if you live in that county still. If you need to send for it, it's usually 2 weeks. Most hospitals only keep birth certificate copies around for a year. If they kept them all, half the hospital would be records.
You don't need your birth certificate. If your mother's going, I dont think you'll need ID either.Do you need your birth certificate to get your belly button pierced?
If someone suspects you are a minor and if they're smart they would demand a birth certificate. Kids try to get away with things at the expense of making people vulnerable to lawsuits if something goes wrong!Do you need your birth certificate to get your belly button pierced?
