My son was born two weeks ago. I registered his birth and ordered his birth certificate within five days of his birth. Service Canada says it might take months to get the certificate. Has anyone been through this process? How long did it actually take to get the birth certificate?|||After about 4 weeks the birth certificate will be registered at the vital statistics office. You could probably go on your government's website.|||im not in canada, but here in california, it can take weeks to months. and here, they dont even automatically send you a copy of the birth certificate unless you request it and pay for it.
for us it only took about 2 weeks after requesting it twice, since we had to put a rush on it because my husband only had a limited amount of time to add our son to our medical insurance.
