Do you have to be 18 to keep your birth certificate? Can a minor keep ownership of their birth certificate or do their parents have to keep their birth certificate?

You are NOT allowed to have the original. You can only have a copy. The original is kept by the city, state, county, province, whatever NOT an individual. You can get a certified copy from the state, city, etc. at any age.

You have to be alive. There is no law that states you have to be X years old to posses your birth certificate. Of course if you are under 18 your parents can take it away from you.How old do you have to be to keep your birth certificate?
A minor should be able to buy their own copy. Not sure though. Why not? You have to have ID so you may need your parents anyway.
