How Important Is A Birth Certificate For Settling An Estate?

Mom is in her 80's and is making plans for her passing. Dad left everything in a big mess when he died and mom wants to spare us kids that. Mom was born in Japan and her birth certificate is written in some form of Japanese that no one seems able to translate anymore. Is a birth certificate necessary to settle an estate? She has naturalization papers, a passport, and a driver's license. Thanks for any help, I hate to see her so worried about this.How Important Is A Birth Certificate For Settling An Estate?
the certificate and naturalization papers, together, tell the story. I don't know that they are even needed, but she seems to have what there is. I would tell her to not worry.

I normally am in the genealogy section... where that kind of record has more value. If mom can translate it, it is of value for family history reasons. You might get some history written down while you still have mom with you. If necessary, putting together the family documents can be presented to her as a positive project for passing down to the kids, instead of negative legal necessities.How Important Is A Birth Certificate For Settling An Estate?
