If neither parent signs the birth certificate, is the birth certificate legal?

I saw a birth certificate where the parents were married, but neither signed the birth certificate. Is this birth certificate legal or questionable if paternity arises? If neither parent signs the birth certificate, is the birth certificate legal?
Yes. Not every state required signatures back when.
the question should be why didnt they sign it? or else the mother died and the father was nowhere to b found....If neither parent signs the birth certificate, is the birth certificate legal?
Sorry, this answer is totally unhelpful, but others have already answered it so c'est la vie...

MY question is, where are you seein' all these birth certificates? If neither parent signs the birth certificate, is the birth certificate legal?
The only signature that matters is the one of the doctor. The mother can write anything she wants on the paper and it does not matter. She can list anyone she chooses as the father, or not list anyone as the father. Paternity and child support require higher levels of proof, so it really does not matter. The only reason that the mother fills out the information is to get the child's name listed the way they want.
Hi,

Usually, if mother and father are not available to sign (signature was not required at one time), then the hospital administrator in charge of the birth registration unit will sign and the doctor will sign. It is a legal birth certificate if state stamps are included.
