Do you have to be 18 to keep your birth certificate? Can a minor keep ownership of their birth certificate or do their parents have to keep their birth certificate?

As far as the legality of personal documentation, I believe the parent has authority to maintain these records until the age of 18. Now with that said, this doesn't mean you can't obtain your own copy from the registrar of deeds office in the county where you were born.
