When my father was a teenager, he discovered that the man he grew up calling "dad" was not his biological father. He discovered this when he came across his original birth certificate, who named a different man as his father. Shocked, he confronted his mother who destroyed that original birth certificate.
He was then legally "adopted" by the man his mother was married to and that he grew up calling "Dad", so his birth certificate now has this man's name listed as the father. My grandmother will not, under any circumstances, even acknowledge this event ever happened, even when my father was in the hospital and the surgeons were asking for family medical history.
For this reason, and for genealogical reasons, I would like to know who my father's biological father is, named on the original birth certificate. Although my father saw it when he was a teenager, he does not recall the name listed. I want to know if there is any way that I can get the information included on the ORIGINAL birth certificate of my father. I am aware I can easily get a copy of his current birth certificate, but I need the original, unaltered one. Any help is greatly appreciated.|||Many states are relaxing their laws on sealed adoption records. Some are unsealing them as a matter of course after a number of years have passed others require a consent form to be on file. So depending on what state the adoption took place in, you may be able to just request the records and send payment for the copies, others you may have to do a bit more to acquire the records but you can rest assured that the records were not intentionally destroyed by the state.
Go here to see how your state handles adoption records:

Usually adoption records before about 1965 were sealed and are difficult do have opened. Your father might petition the court of jurisdiction requesting that the records be opened.
I have had little success getting adoptions records opened for anyone except the person who was adopted.|||There may be a copy in the county clerk's office, or in the state vital records department. It may be sealed. His mother could not have marched into the county office and destroyed the original; what people have at home is a notarized copy of the original. Call the county courthouse and ask. They may have done something with the original when the adoption was final, either destroyed it or sealed it.|||I think you should hire the services of any online agency that is working for birth certificate related issues,as these agencies has direct connection to every city county offices and have access to all records. These agencies take there fees and provide their services even at your home step regardless where you reside. So as per my suggestion it is the only and best way. However i can suggest you an agency, you can apply through this one.Hope you will get resolved your problem.Good luck.
